The mission of the Artists-in-Education Program is to make the arts a basic part of a sound, quality education for all students in grades Pre-K through 12, and to provide professional development for teachers through long-term residencies with professional teaching artists. Grants provide up to $7,000 for residency expenses and support residencies for 20 days or more. All New Jersey public, private, charter or parochial schools serving grades Pre K-12 are eligible to apply for funding to bring an artist-in-residence to their school. Periodic follow ups will be conducted with their teachers at school to check on their progress in terms of classroom resultsĪpplications are now available for the 43rd annual Artists-in-Education (AIE) Residency Grant Program. The goal of this program is to improve their academic skills while having fun in the process. Teachers from Edison public schools will be on hand to educate the students on the use of these computers, instruct them on reading and writing, assist with homework, and other tasks as needed, according to a district news release. A lab has been set up at the church, equipped with desktop computers and iPads, thanks to: New Beginnings Church Canton Office Furniture Dr. Community Action Reaches Everyone (C.A.R.E.), in conjunction with Edison Public Schools and The New Beginnings Church, has developed an academic program in which children from some of the district's schools will have access to computers after school at a facility within walking distance from their homes.įourteen children, Grades K-5, have been chosen to participate in this program which will be conducted every Monday after school at the New Beginnings Church on Jefferson Avenue in Edison.
